Recurring SEO Tasks Yous Should Not Forget About

2018 is almost over and it is time to look back on all of the things you have done this year in terms of SEO and how far have you come. However, you know by now that there is no end to SEO and that you need to continue your dedicated and hard work in the new year as well. Here are some recurring SEO tasks you should not forget about and keep them on your to-do list in the New Year!

Relevance and Quality of Content

As we all know, things in this world are sometimes even too quick to chance. Things that were an absolute must few years ago are now outdated and new trends have taken over. That’s why reviewing the content on your website is of a great importance.

Content that is no longer relevant – If you find content which is outdated, it is time to either update it or delete it. If you decide to update it, make sure you add up-to-date information that will provide value to your customers and also optimize it in accordance to the guidelines. If you decide to delete it, it might be a smart move to redirect the URL to a relevant piece of writing.
Low quality content – it is more than clear that according to the test guidelines, content should be clear, concise and provide value to your customers. If you spot content which doesn’t do the trick, make sure to edit it and improve it as much as possible.

Test the Speed

Testing the speed on your website should be one of the things you should keep on your recurring SEO tasks list and periodically analyse it. Since page speed has a great impact on user experience but also on your overall ranking on search engines, you definitely want to keep an eye on it.

All pages on our website should load in less than three seconds. However, you know yourself that if there are too many pages on your website it is simply impossible to do it manually. Also, it is not really practical to do it manually and count the load time on each page – that’s why we have handy tools!

All of the information about the load time on your pages can be found on Google Analytics. Alternatively, you can also use GTMetrix where you can see some of the problems that are causing the page to load slower.

Don’t Forget about Plugins

If you are using WordPress, you are definitely relying on plugins. Plugins are awesome, they save you a lot of time and a lot of trouble and help you improve the performance of our website. however, not all plugins you are using are being updated regularly. Outdated plugins can cause mess on your website if you are not keeping an eye on them.

Some of the issues that outdated plugins can cause are decrease page speed, influence technical SEO, mess up the appearance and the functionality of your website and even make your website inaccessible, making this one of the things that should find its way on your recurring SEO task list.

Make sure all of the plugins you are using and up to date, and also eliminate plugins which you don’t really need since too many plugins can also slow your website down.
